Apollo Communications Honored for ‘Vaccinate Lancaster’ Marketing Campaign

Public Relations Agency Earns 2021 Silver Keystone Award from Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Apollo Communications was recently honored by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (Central PA PRSA) for its comprehensive public relations and marketing campaign supporting the Vaccinate Lancaster initiative.

The Harrisburg-based public relations agency, launched earlier this year by McNees Wallace & Nurick law firm, took home a 2021 Silver Keystone Award in the Marketing Communications category for its work on behalf of the Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by our industry peers for our Vaccinate Lancaster public relations and marketing campaign,” said Brett Marcy, president of Apollo Communications. “And we are incredibly grateful to the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and all the partners of the Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition for the opportunity to contribute to the success of this critically important public health initiative.”

Apollo Communications was engaged to support the newly formed Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition’s plans for a COVID-19 community vaccination center at the former Bon-Ton department store at the Park City Center in Lancaster, and the coalition’s related efforts to boost vaccination rates in the region.

The agency planned and executed a comprehensive public relations and marketing campaign that ran from mid-February until the center’s closure on June 30, 2021. The campaign was successful in helping the coalition achieve its goal of quickly and efficiently vaccinating hundreds of thousands of residents, making it the second-busiest vaccination site in Pennsylvania.

Judges for Apollo’s winning entry noted that “the tactics utilized were wide ranging and strong” and that there was “great use of branding in all collateral.” Judges also complimented Apollo’s use of “Shot of Hope” to describe the COVID-19 vaccine, which they called a “creative and positive tagline” with “good leverage for social media.”

The Central PA PRSA Silver Keystone Awards recognize public relations projects and campaigns that demonstrate excellent planning and outcomes. The 2021 Keystone Awards were judged by volunteers from the Southern Arizona chapter of PRSA.

The Public Relations Society of America is the nation’s largest professional organization serving the communications community with a mission to “make communications professionals smarter, better prepared and more connected through all stages of their career.” The Central Pennsylvania chapter of PRSA was formed in 1959 and is one of the oldest chapters in the country.
